Hiring: Purchasing Staff

The Purchasing Staff role at Yardstick is responsible for sourcing, ordering, and coordinating the timely delivery of food, beverage, and other supplies required for restaurant operations. This role ensures that purchases meet the restaurant’s quality standards, budget constraints, and inventory requirements.

Work Location: San Juan

Responsibilities:

  • Source food, beverage, and operational supplies from approved and alternative suppliers.
  • Compare pricing, quality, and delivery times to secure the best value.
  • Negotiate with suppliers for favorable terms, pricing, and delivery schedules.
  • Place orders based on requisitions or par stock levels.
  • Coordinate with kitchen, bar, and service teams to assess supply needs.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with regular stocktaking.
  • Assist in receiving deliveries, checking for accuracy in quantity and quality.
  • Ensure proper documentation and filing of purchase orders, delivery receipts, and invoices.
  • Coordinate with accounting for payment processing and reconciliations.
  • Maintain a database of suppliers, pricing, and contract terms.
  • Evaluate supplier performance regularly.
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with vendors.
  • Ensure all purchased items meet the restaurant’s standards and local food safety regulations.
  • Follow company procurement policies and standard operating procedures.

Ideal Candidates:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Business, Hospitality, Supply Chain, or related field is preferred.
  • At least 1–2 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in a restaurant or hospitality setting.
  • Familiarity with food and beverage products, supply chain management, and inventory systems.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with good organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office and/or inventory or procurement software.
